What
are the guidelines for receiving assistance?
At Home Group™ requires the following:
- That
our applicants be homeless, precariously housed or highly mobile*
- Reference
from a case manager or someone else in the social services
field
- Proof of
employment for applicants of Tools for the Job or Women in
Medicine, if applicable
- Proof of
acceptance to education or job training program for applicants
of Education or Women in
Medicine, if applicable
- Completed
business plan and budget form for applicants of Your Own Business
- Proof
of commitment and demonstrated ability to complete programs
that are longer in duration**
- Other documentation
or information that our staff determines is necessary.

Can
I apply for assistance more than once?
You can apply for assistance as many times as you want until
you have been approved. Once you have been helped, you cannot
be helped by At Home Group™ again.

What
controls are in place to prevent someone from receiving assistance
multiple times?
In order to prevent someone from being assisted more than once,
the client’s name and other information is kept in a database
in our office. When new applications are received, they are checked
against the database.

Will
I actually receive cash if I’m approved?
No, we never give out cash. Any item or service is purchased directly
by an At Home Group staff member, and then given to clients.

What
is Small Sums?
Small Sums is At Home Group’s fundraising website. Donors
can go to www.smallsums.org and read our clients’ stories.
These stories do not include personal information in order to protect
the privacy of our clients. Donors choose a specific individual
they want to help and their donation will go towards fulfilling
that person’s need. Please go to www.smallsums.org for more
information.

I’d like to make a donation
to a specific program, can I do that here?
You can donate through our general Make
a Donation page and call
our office to let us know that you want your donation to be for
a particular program. Make sure to provide your full name and
the name of the program to which you want your donation restricted.
You can also mail a check to our office, PO Box 50277, Minneapolis,
MN 55405 with a note specifying the program that you want your
donation restricted to.
Alternatively, you can make a donation on www.smallsums.org to
a specific At Home Group™ program.

*This includes
those who are staying in emergency shelters, staying in places
not fit for human habitation (such as parks, under bridges,
in cars), those staying with friends or family members temporarily
because they have no home of their own, those living in subsidized
housing, those staying in transitional housing. **This includes
programs, such as vocational education programs, that are 4 weeks
long or longer. These applicants are required
to check in at our office frequently, on specific dates and at
specific times, to show an ability to make and keep commitments.
